We’re proud to share that our work on predicting long-term stability of Ni-rich Li-ion batteries has been highlighted by Hiden Analytical!
In this study, we show that the initial generation of formaldehyde (CH₂O) during the very first cycle under abusive conditions (overcharge, over-discharge, fast-charge) can serve as a predictive marker for how well a battery will perform over the long term — including capacity retention, voltage hysteresis, and energy efficiency — without the need for lengthy cycling tests.

This approach not only deepens our understanding of electrolyte decomposition and interfacial degradation in high-energy Ni-rich cells but also opens the door to rapid performance diagnostics and better battery design for EVs and energy storage systems.
