Battery, Supercapacitor, and Hybrid Energy Storage Systems
The Centre of Excellence for Energy Storage Technology (CEST), School of Energy Science and Engineering, Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), Thailand, is seeking two highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers in the field of electrochemical energy storage, particularly in batteries, supercapacitors, and hybrid energy storage systems.
These positions are ideal for candidates who are passionate about translating fundamental materials science into practical energy storage technologies for real-world applications such as electric vehicles, grid storage, and next-generation sustainable energy systems.

Research Areas
Successful candidates will work in one or more of the following areas:
Position 1: Battery Systems
• Lithium-ion batteries (Ni-rich, LMFP, LMR, anode-free systems)
• Sodium-ion batteries
• Lithium–sulfur batteries
• Electrolyte engineering and interphase chemistry
• Degradation mechanisms and lifetime analysis
• Cylindrical cell development
• Pilot-scale electrode fabrication
Position 2: Supercapacitor and Hybrid Systems
• Electrochemical double-layer capacitors (EDLC)
• Hybrid capacitors (Li-ion capacitor, Na-ion capacitor, Zn-ion capacitor)
• Advanced electrode materials
• Binder engineering and electrode formulation
• Roll-to-roll electrode manufacturing
• Reliability testing following IEC standards
• Device engineering and scale-up

Qualifications
Applicants must have:
• Ph.D. in:
o Materials Science
o Chemical Engineering
o Chemistry
o Physics
o or related fields
• Strong background in at least one of the following:
o Battery materials
o Supercapacitor materials
o Electrochemical characterization
o Materials characterization
o Electrode fabrication
o Device assembly
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with:
o Coin cells, pouch cells or cylindrical cells
o Electrochemical techniques (EIS, CV, GCD)
o Materials characterization (SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS)
o Electrolyte characterization (DEMS, GC-MS, ICP, NMR)
o Scientific publishing
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
• Good communication skills in English

The Postdoctoral Researchers will:
• Conduct high-quality research in energy storage technologies
• Design and perform electrochemical experiments
• Publish research papers in high-impact journals
• Supervise graduate students
• Assist in research proposal development
