CEST’s Latest Success Published in Societal Impacts!
We are thrilled to share our latest publication:
"Bridging the Energy Gap & Empowering Communities Through Solar-Powered Light Learning with Advanced Battery Technology"
https://doi.org/10.1016/j.socimp.2025.100133
Led by the Centre of Excellence for Energy Storage Technology (CEST), VISTEC, this project seamlessly integrates cutting-edge lithium-ion battery research (NMC90-based) with real-world community deployment across 16 rural schools, a village, and a nursery in Rayong, Thailand.
Key Highlights
~10% reduction in electricity costs for lighting
STEM-based projects for students
Off-grid solar systems designed to withstand Thailand’s high temperatures
Direct contribution to UN SDGs 4, 7, and 11
Strong collaboration between scientists, educators, and local communities
This work showcases the power of applied science for social impact—demonstrating how innovation and community engagement can foster sustainable development and educational equity.
Congratulations to our authors:
Surasak Kaenket, Thitiphum Sangsanit, Worapol Tejangkura, and Prof. Montree Sawangphruk
This achievement was made possible through the support of the CEST team, PMU-C, IRPC, PTT group, TSRI, Apex Chemicals, EPPO (Ministry of Energy), and FRC-VISTEC.
Together, we are lighting the path to a brighter, more sustainable future.
